Does your dog's excessive biting and chewing driving you up the wall and, if you're anything like me, make you concerned for your family and friends' safety too. . .
. . .as well as all the material damage resulting from the apparently never-ending destruction of clothes, shoes - particularly those belonging to my wife - and household furniture.
Not to mention the whining and barking...
Once upon a time I used to curse the folks next door for their barking dog. That was until my own English setter, Sandy, became the block's "backyard bellower" and out-barked all the other dogs.
As well as that there's the downright aggressive behaviour. I'm sure you'll agree that there's nothing scarier than when you and your family are out walking with your dog, and you're suddenly set upon by a pack of angry and blood-thirsty hounds...
...and that can be pretty embarrassing too, whoever the dog belongs to.
Well, after I visited a few online forums and also talked to my friends, it soon became clear that Sandy's behaviour wasn't that unusual. In fact it was pretty common for folks to own a disobedient or sometimes aggressive dog.
There was one guy whose dog ran out in front of a car because the dog refused to obey his owner's basic commands - stories like that made me feel quite lucky when I read them.
I learned that this was all about the lack of alpha male role of the owner over the dog and lack of leadership. . . which is what you'll learn now from many more modern dog training programs.
As I was clearly desperate to solve my problem, I did lots of research into ways to turn Sandy, our naughty family dog, into a well-behaved dog, and encourage her back into our loving circle of mutual trust and respect.
I soon discovered that a major problem was that dog trainers are really expensive. Also, I'm a busy guy and, even on weekends, it was not always possible to find time to fit in the training sessions.
Then I looked into types of training equipment, such as shock collars and prong, collars that can be used at home. I have to tell you, just reading about those things makes me shudder. . . and, for any dog that is forced to wear them, I can't imagine how painful they would be.
Anyway, trying to make your dog behave through punishing them is obviously not the way forward - as anyone with any common sense can see.
While I was doing my research online, I kept coming across a guide called Secrets To Dog Behaviour (used to be called Sit Stay Fetch).
It included all the things I was after, so it looked promising to me. Things like:
Well established,
Plenty of testimonials,
Immediate access,
Concentrates on the leadership, or alpha pack, relationship which other guides/trainers ignore
So, I made up my mind to go ahead and give it a try. Fast forward a few weeks, and I'm giving you my own review of what this guide is all about, as I know other people are in that frustrating situation of living with an unruly and even dangerous dog. . .
What you'll learn in this review
Now I'll give you my opinion as to whether the guide actually works, who I think it's right for, and obviously, whether it's worth spending your hard-earned cash on.
I hope you find it enjoyable and useful.

WHAT DOES IT DO?
“Secrets to Dog Training!” is packed full
of secrets about changing your dog's behaviour in an enjoyable
and simple way that is accessible to everyone. You will save
yourself time, cash and bother if you follow "Secrets
to Dog Training!" to train your dog.
It teaches you how to avoid the errors and terrible experiences
that you have been susceptible to. You can really make the
most of both your training time and your relationship with
your dog with "Secrets to Dog Training!".
According to "Secrets to Dog Training!" your dog
will learn to obey you at all times, which helps you avoid
giving up lots of time and money to professional dog trainers
with no guarantee of success.
How Dog Training Secrets works is to show you how to use
dog whispering to train your dog. This method is growing in
popularity nowadays. As well as getting rid of lots of bad
behaviour traits, it also creates a powerful and lasting bond
between you and your dog.
To all intents and purposes, this is dog obedience training
in the fast lane, which is fantastic as long as it works.
So let’s find out if it does…
Training for your Dog Presents. . .
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
From the moment I laid eyes on the Secrets To Dog Training
Guide, I noticed straight away that it’s jam packed
full of advice and information. It also looks very professional
and seems to be very well laid out.
I printed off the guide and skimmed through it, as soon as
it arrived. It soon became clear that they use a very logical
way to go through the stages of dog training i.e. right from
when you first get your dog, through to dog-owner connection,
through to practical sections on hands-on training.
I found this ideal because I don’t like having to pick
and scrape my way through the information. I prefer to progress
through a guide from beginning to end.
However, at first I did have concerns that the guide is possibly
a bit overwhelming. What I was thinking was will I be able
to understand all this and will I have time to put it into
practice?
Training for your Dog Presents. . .
DOES IT WORK?
At the time Sandy was driving us round the bend and
we had to find a solution. So my number one priority was
to get started.
The first few sections of the guide are pretty straightforward.
As I began reading it, I found the beginning is more aimed
at new dog owners. However, if you want to find the right
dog for your particular lifestyle and needs, there are some
useful tips.
Next, there is lots of in-depth advice about choosing the
right breed, like what to look for when choosing your dog.
Although some of the info is pretty standard, there’s
stuff I didn’t know about like health-related tips.
Also, so you know exactly what breed you should be looking
for, they cover all different dog-types.
Also, as I got deeper into the early part of the guide, I noticed that there were some great tips on preparing your home for a new dog, but again, only useful if you're at that stage of owning/buying a dog.
However, I did find that the socializing and housetraining sections could be a bit more extensive, as they only cover the bare essentials.

Although some of the info is pretty standard, there’s
stuff I didn’t know about like health-related tips.
Also, so you know exactly what breed you should be looking
for, they cover all different dog-types.
Then, as I delved further into the guide’s beginning
stages, there were some great tips about how to prepare
your home for a new dog. However I realise this is only
of use to you if you're at that initial stage of considering
dog-ownership or purchase.
I also thought that the house-training and socialising
sections just cover the bare essentials and they could be
a bit more extensive.
The sections which took effect straightway after I started
using it , and the ones I loved best, were "the secrets
to understanding your dog". So you can learn how to
create a bond, trust and respect (and leadership) between
you and your dog, this section was the most effective.
Although a little short in places, the training material is usually totally accurate. In addition to providing step by step exercises to use to take control of the problems such as barking or pulling on the leash, they do a marvellous job of explaining the psychology behind your dog's bad behaviour.
Finally, so long as you put in the time and effort, it's easy to understand that this guide will show you how to accomplish the training and care of your dog.
What makes me think this? It's because the guide gives you modern and safe techniques and approaches that make so much sense when you and your dog try them out. I know that some areas of training like crate training, for example, may take longer than barking. However that really depends on how long it takes your dog.

WHO IS IT RIGHT FOR?
I have used this guide for some time now and I can
confidently say that it’s ideal for folks thinking
about buying a dog, or new dog owners.
If your dog has serious aggression issues that need attention
urgently, you will find this guide extremely helpful in
resolving the immediate problems. It also shows you how
to build a deeper loving bond with your dog.
This is even more suitable for people looking for a comprehensive
guide to buying, caring, controlling and loving their
dog. This guide covers all these aspects extensively.
However, taking all this into account, you’ll still
need to make a commitment to your dog and, to apply what
you'll learn, you’ll need to be able to put some
time aside. You’ll also need patience, as some of
the methods it teaches you can take up to 5 weeks.

BAD POINTS
There are just a one or two reasons that make this
guide less than perfect for everyone:
In the first place, I think perhaps there could have been
more details to do with simple obedience training in the
initial sections. For example I would have liked more step
by step instructions.
There seems to be a section at the beginning that just
briefly covers some of the basics of obedience and then
picks it up again later. However they do cover aggression
and taking control of your dog, along with getting the leadership
role well established, which means your dog responds to
you better.
Secondly, this guide is aimed at all types of dog owners, from new owners looking for a new dog, to people who want to stop their dog attacking cats. Having this complete A-Z system may seem like a good thing to many, but I personally felt that perhaps a smaller, condensed guide for specific problems would be better?
Next, this guide aims to help all types of dog owners,
from new owners on the lookout for a new dog, to established
dog-owners who want to prevent their dog attacking cats.
It may seem a great thing to many people to have a complete
A-Z system, but I wonder if a smaller, condensed guide for
specific problems would possibly be preferable.
Lastly, despite the fact that they are relatively simple problems to put right once you know how, the socializing and house training and socializing sections could go into more detail in comparison to other parts.

GOOD POINTS
As far as I was concerned, the Secrets To Dog Training
Guide has some really strong features.
At first I found the "common behaviour solved"
section really useful. This is because it deals with specific
problems such as biting and barking, rather than just
covering the basics.
I know that it may take time for you all to appreciate
my next point. It did seem a little too much to take in
when I first looked at it. However, because Secrets To
Dog Training is an extensive A-Z guide, I think it will
be of great use for you for a long time. And, as well
as that, in the future you won't need to buy any more
guides about caring for and training your dog.
I found other sub sections that I found to be very useful
and intriguing. For example, I was fascinated by the section
about “reading” your dog…
…and it can really help you understand problems
that your dog is having that might otherwise not be noticed,
such as anxiety or possible aggression.
Also, after you get past all the new owner and buying
guide stuff at the beginning, when you get further in,
within the behavioural problems section, you'll find some
fantastic "do's and don'ts” and step by step
instructions.
Very importantly the advice in the guide is based on
what seems to be largely unique advice. It is clearly
put together by either a single expert, or team of experts.
in dog training and behaviour.
Finally, although this wasn’t my main reason for
buying the guide, I discovered there were some great additional
tips and tricks about buying dog food which is better
and healthier, and generally looking after your dog, as
well as stopping your dog from attacking things.

When all’s said and done, it's been a long voyage
of discovery learning about what was going on in Sandy’s
head. I really thinks that this guide has taught me
so much.
Although I don’t know if this guide is going
to be perfect for every one, to be honest, which guide
ever could be?
What I do know is this…
The Secrets To Dog Training Guide is obviously an extensive
guide. At the same time that I think that does cover
a vast amount of topics, from healthcare to obedience,
it does represent excellent value for money. Remember
you get videos included in the package as well.
It include so much valuable information, from picking
your dog through to training and obedience, as well
as ongoing care…I think it's definitely worth
a shot.
For folks who are buying their first, or a different,
dog, this is a brilliant guide. However it may not be
right for you if your existing dog is having a little
problem but is otherwise perfectly behaved and in perfect
health.
It’s worth mentioning that the behaviour issues
section alone saved me a huge headache when my dog was
barking, biting and chewing everything in the house.
My family feels happier now that Sandy is back to "playing
nice", and we’ve really started to enjoy
our walks in the park again.
This guide will definitely be the answer to your prayers
if your dog is driving you up the wall, and you'd like
to know how to control their behaviour and at the same
time build a really strong, loving bond with your dog.
Frustrated dog owners please note - you need to be
ready to learn a fair amount here, as this guide seriously
is very extensive and does cover lot of ground.
